So Mean!

I totally hate being tickled, so I feel a little bad when I do it to Easton, but it's just too dang cute! Here he is with Jenni.

Baby on Board

Well I have been kicked out once again as Steve comes to his last 2 weeks of studying for the bar. I think it will be easier for him to study every day as long as he wants, without having to worry about getting home in time to see us. Normally he's really great about spending the evenings with us, but it's getting down to the wire and I could tell that all he wants to do with his time is study. And I can understand that...it's only the most important test he'll ever take.

But leaving means once again taking Easton on a plane by myself. I get very apprehensive about it these days. My favorite thing are the looks I get in the boarding area, and as I walk to my seat. You know, the looks that say, "oh great, a baby." I have given those looks before. I don't like being on the receiving end of them so much. I feel the pressure to try so hard to keep him quiet so I don't disturb everyone else's flight. It was just so nice when he was younger, I didn't have to worry about that as much because he would just fall asleep from the motion and lay peacefuly the entire time. But apparently 10 month old babies don't like to sit still. Weird. He had to sit on my lap this time since the plane was full, so we spent the entire hour and 20 minutes bouncing, playing peekaboo with our surrounding passengers, throwing books on the floor, picking them up, throwing them on the floor, picking them up...you get the idea. All those things we do to keep an overtired baby entertained. I finally resorted to shoving cheerios and goldfish in his face for the last few minutes...that worked like a charm. I was nervous the whole time and trying desperately to keep him busy as best I could with about 2 feet of space. By the time we landed I didn't even care that I had orange crumbs all over me and my entire body was sweaty, I was just so happy that he didn't scream the whole time.

So here we are back in Eugene. And just in time for the Country Fair. Too bad you're gone Ilene, I know how much you would love going there!

Ducks

This is Easton's version of feeding the ducks.

I don't know why, but I have always liked going to feed ducks, and I love taking little kids to do it too. I guess I feel like it's sort of a rite of passage. I mean, everyone has to feed the ducks, right? Obviously Easton's too young to really grasp the concept. He's probably wondering why on earth I'm giving his food away. He thought they were cool and interesting...I mean, he looked at them and made cute noises, but he's a ways away from throwing bread at them. He'd much rather eat it himself.

Expecto Patronum!

Okay so most of you probably think I'm crazy, staying up all night and waiting in line for 3 hours to see Harry Potter. But for the select few who understand this obsession; IT WAS SO WORTH IT!!! From the moment I walked into the theater, and heard the music (which immediately sends chills up my spine) start playing, until I walk out the door, I am in a magical place.I laughed, I cried...it was perfect! My mind is racing with so many thoughts I can't possibly write about everything I'm feeling...so here is a bulleted list of all things HP5 that are worthy of discussing.

* dementors
* tonks
* sirius
* the black house
* harry, ron, hermione...and the rest of the clan
* the ministry of magic
* the department of mysteries
* hogwarts
* umbridge
* LUNA LOVEGOOD
* the room of requirement
* cho
* snape
* bellatrix
* the order
* DA
* occlumency
* azkaban prison
* death eaters
* voldemort

Go see it...you won't be disappointed!

Lucky Peak

Easton and I recently went with grandma to a small lake nearby in Boise called Lucky Peak. The weather was beautiful (HOT) so we decided to get out and play. We had a picnic by the water and let Easton get his feet wet, and we tried to squeeze in a little geocaching, but were unsuccessful. We had a good time anyway though!

Now, all the lakes I've been to in Oregon are surrounded with hundreds of thousands of trees; green forests everywhere...so this place was a little different for me. But, I really did think it was beautiful. A total change of scenery and I really enjoyed it. Steve used to tell me that I only thought things were beautiful if they were green...and I must admit, I think I did feel that way. I grew up in the most gorgeous state! But I'd like to think that I've changed a little and have broadened my definition of beauty and can appreciate it in all it's forms. Just because it's not green, doesn't mean it isn't pretty.

This was actually a really cool place. There was a lake up above the dam where people were boating, and then down below the dam was a big park and picnic area and a small swimming area with a little beach, perfect for little kids. It reminded me a lot of loon lake (for those of you who have been there).

STUPID FREAKING JERKS!!!

So this afternoon I get into my car only to realize that some punk hoodlum kid had gotten in there the night before and stolen some cash I had in the middle console and my SWEET swiss army knife.UGHGHUGHGHGHGHHGHG!!!!!!! There are no words (well, there are...but my blog is g-rated and I intend to keep it that way) to describe how upset I was. I really don't care about the money (it was like 8 dollars...but it was ice cream money!!)...but I really did like my knife. What really makes me mad is that someone was in MY car going through MY stuff...a total violation. I HATE IT!!!! Seriously, I hate people who steal. THOSE LOW DOWN GOOD FOR NOTHING HOOLIGANS!!!!!!! And-I ALWAYS lock the car; except the last time I went somewhere I was in a hurry to get Easton out and I had groceries in the trunk and it was hot and he was crying...so I just forgot to that time. It kills me-the ONE time I don't lock the door someone gets in there. I'M SO MAD! It could have been a lot worse I guess. We're pretty sure it was just some kid looking for whatever was easy...nothing got messed up or broken, so that's good. But I'm still ticked. Oh yea, and how is it that we lived in the ghetto on Oak Patch in Eugene (the petty theft capital of the US) for 3 years and never had one problem...and then we move into a nice neighborhood and that's when our car gets broken into? Lame.
