Lucky Peak

Easton and I recently went with grandma to a small lake nearby in Boise called Lucky Peak. The weather was beautiful (HOT) so we decided to get out and play. We had a picnic by the water and let Easton get his feet wet, and we tried to squeeze in a little geocaching, but were unsuccessful. We had a good time anyway though!

Now, all the lakes I've been to in Oregon are surrounded with hundreds of thousands of trees; green forests everywhere...so this place was a little different for me. But, I really did think it was beautiful. A total change of scenery and I really enjoyed it. Steve used to tell me that I only thought things were beautiful if they were green...and I must admit, I think I did feel that way. I grew up in the most gorgeous state! But I'd like to think that I've changed a little and have broadened my definition of beauty and can appreciate it in all it's forms. Just because it's not green, doesn't mean it isn't pretty.

This was actually a really cool place. There was a lake up above the dam where people were boating, and then down below the dam was a big park and picnic area and a small swimming area with a little beach, perfect for little kids. It reminded me a lot of loon lake (for those of you who have been there).

I know what you mean! I feel like living here has totally taught me to appreciate the earth. It is so much different here than in Oregon but I think it is soooo beautiful here. But, of course, I still melt every time I go back to Oregon and see the beautiful trees. It's funny because when we went to Rigby Lake, I was like...where are all the tree's? I just thought it was a given that lakes had to be surrounded by trees in the middle of a forest. haha...anyway, I am so amazed how wonderful the earth is, we are truly blessed.

OH YEAH. I was also going to say...Easton is SO CUTE! I think I am getting addicted to looking at his pictures. I really think he is so adorable. I think my favorite picture of him on your blog is that one where he is laughing on the swing...i think it's when you went to oregon.

I miss the green too. I am partial to it myself, but there are other beauties. We went to Red Rock canyon last November (here in Vegas) and it was gorgeous! There was almost not a tree in sight! We will have to take you there when you come!

I do agree with you that green is the best. It is very green here in the east. I do miss Idaho though. (honestly I never thought I would say that but I do!!!)

The lake does look pretty. In a dry, dirtish sort of way. Kidding. It sounds like it was a fun day!!!

I hear ya on getting used to a different kind of beauty. I lived in AZ all my life and I used to think the desert was so ugly. But it grew on me and I have a soft spot for all that brown. Looks like a fun day, cute pics.
