Just Try It

I was recently presented with an opportunity to learn something new. Now, at first I was like, whoa there, my way is just fine, why do I need to learn a new way? After pushing that snobby thought aside, I gladly brought on the new idea. The outcome? I enjoyed what I learned. This experience kept me up last night thinking about the way I respond and react to learning new things. I have always thought that I was an open person, curious to learn new things; but maybe some things have deeper roots and are more personal...and are therefor harder to let go of to try something new. So, I decided, whether it's a new sport, a new idea, a new game or a new hobby, I'm going to try my best to put aside my preferences and personal biases and give it a shot. I think we would all agree that the way we do something is the best way. While that may be true, don't be afraid to try something new, or a variation of the same thing. You just might like it.

So I'm wondering, which one of these is you?

My way is better, I'm SO not trying it any other way.

Sounds cool, bring it on, I love learning new things!

Sure let's give it a try ...but secretly you've already decided that you hate it and your way is WAY better.

I think that if given the time to try a new way I would go for the new way, unfortunately the "old" way is usually faster and therefore the road most taken. Time always seems to be a determining factor.

Thanks for the food of thought, I will try to look for new experiences to broaden my understanding in the future.

Have a great day. Thanks for blogging! I was needing a new posting. Love ya

I'm curious about you tried that was new.

I think it depends on what I'm trying that would make a difference on if I would willingly give it a try or if I think my way is better. But I like to think I'll give anything a try.

yeah, so what new thing were you asked to try? What brought on such an awakening? :) I have to admit, I think my way is usually best but am always willing to try the new way to humor someone. I'm just comfortable with what I do but really I know my ways are not always the best ways. I DO choose to do things in a way that seem more efficient though. That's really important to me!

p.s. check my blog. I need your ideas

What new thing did you try? Seriously, you can't leave us hanging there - unless it is something new in the bedroom then we don't want to hear about it.

I like to think I am like #2, but deep down I know that most of the time I am #3.

I am a combo of #2 AND #3! There is a degree of comfort in tried and true mthods. But, I do love to learn new things...like Jane Austen would say "It's a kind of accomplishment."

And I agre with Alifinale...what was the new thing?!

And you haven't commented on American Idol this week OR LOST?! Inquiring minds want to know!!!

I'm a curious person by nature, so I love hearing how others do things. And being a coach, I'm always open to new drills, words to use, even coaching styles.

I'm also a stubborn person when it comes to some of the things I do. But especially something that I'm not so great at, or fairly new to, like parenting, I'm ALWAYS looking for some new trick of the trade.
So I guess I'm a little of the second and the third, but I'd like to think that I'm more like the second. :)

I hope you learned something new that you're going to share!!

Meg, I'm still recovering from Carly getting the boot on AI...it was a sad day for me. If David A didn't win I wanted it to be her. She rocks. As for Lost...there will be more on that subject when I get back to LV.

Sorry to disappoint everyone...we learned a variation of one of our favorite card games, scum. But this post was not just about that, but other times where I have been hesitant to try new things.

I agree with Liz, it would depend on what I am doing.
I was sad that Carly got voted off too! Jason needs to go.
We are glad that you are coming back today!!!! Reagan has been asking for Eastey :)

I think I'm like everyone else, just wondering what you tried.... I'm open to new things depend on who ask me. If my sister or friend showed me a new way to do things, I probably try. But if it was someone I was more guarded around, aka mother-in-law I would be less likely.

Nevermind I just read through the comments, you already said the new thing, opps.

The Nielson way to play scum IS the best way to play!!! Hahaha. Joking, but seriously, I need to be the type that is open to different things and new ways to experience what I'm used to. Thanks for opening our eyes!

And thanks for sharing a whole week with us! I'm going to miss you!
