The Sun Did Not Shine

It is raining today, for maybe the 5th time since we've lived here. And usually it's this really wimpy rain, but today it is pouring and I LOVE it. Those of you from Las Vegas are probably used to not having rain, but I really miss it sometimes. It's a rare occasion that the sun isn't shining here (one of the main reasons I love this place), but it is even more rare to have moisture.

Easton, Claire and I were lucky enough to have Nathan over to play with us this afternoon. I'm so glad I decided to keep Easton up to play with his buddy instead of putting him down at his normal nap time. He would have missed out on this:

I let them play out here for a few minutes, until I heard the loudest clap of thunder I have ever heard. It made me jump and I wanted to run inside and hide under the bed, but I held it together...you know, didn't want to scare the kids. Except that they loved it and it didn't phase them at all. I had to pull them inside kicking and screaming, but I just didn't know if it was the safest to let them play in a thunder storm with bright flashes of lightning above our heads. That was my excuse, but really I'm just terrified of lightning.

Cute video's and pic's! Like I told you Reagan was clinging to me for dear life when the thunder started.
I miss the rain.

That is the most adorable thing! At least we know HE won't mind if it rains at horseshoe. A little Oregon boy getting his first taste of rain in NV, what 's up with that?

Love the black and white photos! So cool!

But keep the rain. I don't want it right now. It was rainier than I rememeber it ever being this winter.

We did have a fun little storm this afternoon, but the thunder totally had me jumping a few times.

what a mean mom. Locking them indoors! Cute video, I too love a good rain storm, that is until in enters your living quarters.

Too bad all we had was a hot and muggy day with NO moisture.

Way cute video. I know this rain has been totally weird! I'm having Oregon flashbacks, but not really because we never had thunderstorms there and I LOVE thunderstorms!

Those little buddies are so cute! This is why I was excited to move back to the desert - I wanted to love the rain again (got pretty sick of it in OR, sorry). I love monsoon rains the most because you can go out and play in the rain without getting freezing cold. So fun!

Cute video and I love the last pic, it is like they are saying, "let us out!" too cute. It is nice to get some good rain once and a while, it probably felt good. We could use some rain here, I am dying in this heat 8 months pregnant!

They are so cute standing there with their little fingers spread and swinging their arms!

Ah, Oregon rain is rarely accompanied by thunder. I would have ran into the house too.

I love a good summer thunderstorm to break things up.

Warm rainy days are the best. Great pictures, very artistic.

Wow, that was a really cute video. I completely thought the first kid you were filming was Easton until I actually saw the REAL Easton, and that was just weird and confusing. But very cute video. Glad you got some rain. I remember it pouring in Utah once and everbody was STARING out the window in utter amazement. And I was like, "What, it's rain."

Thanks so much for taking such cute pictures of Nathan. Loved the rain video. Of course, I'm the Grandma. Easton is SO cute too. They sure are buddies aren't they? I sure appreciate all you do for Kara and Nathan. They think the world of you. I enjoy checking your blog out and seeing what you are up to. Keep up the good work. Love, Kara's mom

What's with 10 days and no update? I'm missing reading about you guys!

Hey, we will be in Las Vegas sunday afternoon (27th). We'll call you after our meetings with reps. Hope we can get together before we leave on Tuesday afternoon.

I think Emily will be on her way to Oregon, have fun with the fam.

When we lived in Texas I thought I wouldn't see the rain again for a long time. I was so wrong! When it rains in Texas it REALLY rains! I'm talking torrential downpours. It was amazing. And the thunderstorms? HOLY COW. Sometimes I thought our house was going to fall apart because the thunder and lightning was so intense. I feel for ya' on being scared!
