We Make Them Big

Well, for the time being I am in only a small amount of pain, so I thought I'd write a quick blog. The past 2 weeks have been a NIGHTMARE (except for the adorable baby girl part). I really wanted to take pictures of my nipples for all of you to see so you could feel bad for me, but I guess that wouldn't be appropriate. I could have done a before and after, because after all the remedies and crazy stuff I've tried, they are finally starting to heal. Anyway, nursing...ew. Never again.

So I have been thinking a lot about why my babies are so ginormous. Easton- 9.7. Carly- 9.3. Seriously? Today we went to the dr and at 2 weeks old she is now 10 lbs. And I love it. While my SIL and another friend both just recently had 6 lb babies, and I was admittedly a little jealous, I just can't imagine having a baby that small. I would feel like I would break him or her. I guess it just runs in the family. I myself was 9.14, and my adorable sister was 10 big ones (sorry Jen). But what's wrong with a nice 8 lb-er? Solid yet not huge? Oh well, like Ilene once said, that's 3 less lbs I have to lose. Yay.
Easton...I guess I didn't have a picture of him on the scale, but the weight is
written on that piece of paper.
Carly. Can you count those chins? Not the most flattering picture, but hey, she is fresh from the womb...that is one solid baby. Don't you just want to kiss those cheeks off?

I'm so sorry that nursing has been so difficult. I hope that you're able to find a feeding routine that works for you and all involved and that you're able to heal. Congrats on the little, well, big, sweet baby girl :-)

Oh, she is cute! I'm dying over those chins. Just think, bigger baby equals bigger bows. Break out the ribbon!

Hope the feeding gets better, whichever route you decide to go. Did you nurse with E and did it hurt like this? This makes me nervous. Thank goodness for formula, right?

yes I DO want to kiss those cheeks off! Can't wait, a couple weeks and those cheeks will be mine! Thanks for posting, sorry bout the nipples...I got a new bra today, I feel like a whole new woman! Good luck!

Your little girl is sooo cute! I totally understand about the whole nursing nipple thing. Paul laughs at me when I'm screeching in pain when my babies latch on. Not looking forward to that! Congratulations on the little girl and I hope everything from now on goes smoothly!

I feel for you on the nursing thing. It went so smoothly last time without any discomfort...this time, not fun at all. It has been better these last couple weeks. Half a dozen diflucan and a tube of lanolin later. She's super cute Em! I love the rolls. I was a big baby at 9'9 but don't seem to have passed it on.

I looked at that last pic and I swear that's what my kids look like at 1 month!

Oh and I thought nursing would get better with the second kid... wrong. When they say to give it two weeks before it stops hurting, they really mean two months. Hang on there sweetie, this too shall pass.

Ha! The chins! That IS impressive from being straight out of your belly! Nipples, I have no idea what it's like. All I can say is . . . I am so sorry. Sometimes life just isn't fair. Yet another thing men will never have to face.

I am so sorry that you're STILL in pain! I wish that it was easier for you, but I'm sure as it gets better every day, she'll be a better baby and it'll be worth it? I hope! She's gorgeous and I hope that Jackson will keep growing so she won't pass him up and beat him up someday. I want them to get married so we can be family!

Em, she is beautiful, and the extra chins just add to her cuteness. I laughed so hard at the story and picture of the flowers in the train vase, your mom told us all about it last week!

Nursing is way overrated. I do love my bottle babies. If you do decide to go the formula way, I will email you and tell you how all of those studies about breast milk being so much better than formula are a load of crap.

Obviously I have issues.

Carly is so so cute. I could only do bigger babies if they were as cute as yours. Loving those chins!!

So sorry about the nursing pain. It does get better. Mine never hurt after the first one.

LOL. That many chins only looks good on a baby. Especially a cute baby.

So seriously cute!!!!! Big babies are better, they sleep longer, eat more, and are more content!!

Hope all is going well.

I love those cheeks. Even at 4 1/2 lbs, Cami had cheeks. She's a cute baby. Sorry about the pain you've been having.

So sorry about the nursing pain. I got sore with all three of mine, especially Isaac. After awhile it got better and then no trouble. After that I LOVED nursing. It's just getting past the "I really want to quit this torture" phase that's hard. I hope it gets better for you!

Big babies are great! Eli was my biggest (9 lbs.) and his labor and delivery was the fastest and easiest of all three. I'm curious as to how big this next baby will be since I've had a wide range of sizes so far (Shailey 8 lbs 3 oz, Eli 9 lbs, Isaac 7 lbs). I kind of want right in the middle again. :o)

Oh, and by the way, Carly is darling! I can't get over those cheeks! :o)

I'm with you and having big babies...I wouldn't know what to do with a small baby. (I would seriously feel like I would break it)
Congrats! Carly is adorable! good luck with all those crazy nipple remedies...been there done that (glad I'm done...sort of)

She is so stinking cute and I love all her chins. Those pictures are cute but she is so much yummier in person. I love her!

Sorry about the nipples. I would have laughed so hard though if I got a secret email with pictures of your ouchies. Hope all gets really better really soon.

I love the double chins!!! I can't wait to get back, and then for you to get back.

Ow ow ow ow ow! The thought of painful nursing eases some of my baby hungriness! It's SO rough to break those nipples in. You do what you gotta do, girl.

But she a seriously adorable fatty. And I'm counting down the days until I CAN kiss those cheeks off!

hey em - i think i will be calling you sometime this weekend... i think big babies are definitely the way to go! about nursing - i am still nursing (luke is 16 months) and its not been nice all the time - plugged ducts, mastitis, cracked & bleeding nipples, being bitten! (and not healing forever and still having to nurse on that side so as to prevent a plugged duct!!) -- ahh, its all a labor of love!! although, if you are going to go insane and its affecting your time/mood/quality of life with hubby or E, then do whatever works!! i remember freaking out when luke was spitting up blood and the pediatrician asked if he had ingested any blood - then i realized that my nipples were bleeding so bad when he was nursing that he was spitting that up with the breastmilk - i felt bad for both of us!! ooh, but that cuddly feeling of a little nursing baby (or in my case now - 31 pound toddler with 12 teeth) in your arms...priceless :)

I used to think this was a nice, family friendly blog. I would enjoy reading about the whimsical antics of Easton bo-beaston and his neurotic parents. Now, however, a line has been crossed. Since my sister has so unspeakably described things that-should-not-be-named, I must recuse myself from this blog. A sad parting indeed. Steve - where were you on that one?

Steve said...

Darren,
You don't like talking about your sister's nether regions?

Emily said...

I didn't post a picture, did I? That was for you Darrie Joe.

Nice to know you read - well, read (past tense) my blog.

Yes, you do have them big and they're nice and healthy! Isn't it amazing how baby girls usually, not always, but usually look like girls from the start? Carly sure does and easton looked like a boy. good thing, right? :)

Melanie said...

Did you take the picture? I so wish I had taken a picture of my bleeding nipples. At least I could use it for guilt when my teenagers are being...well teenagers. Some days, I think I would trade in parenting teenagers for nursing again. Can't wait to hold that baby!

Jenni said...

You are without a doubt the funniest blogger EVER!!!! hahahahaha! thanks for the decision on the no-go of the nipple picture. But you can't totally show me when you're here! lol. SHE IS SO DANG ADORABLE THAT I JUST WANT TO HOLD HER AND SQUEEZE her and I feel like this is TORTURE! I get her for the whole week before the wedding!

I think I'm screwed to have huge children, thanks alot genes.

love you!

I miss that "little" baby girl so much. I have been dreaming about her and can't wait to see you all again. I am so grateful for that time I had with you and wouldn't trade it for anything.

It's interesting how we forget the pain of nursing and fall for it again the next time, it's a trick!
It killed me to see you suffer and hope you will begin to feel better and enjoy it soon.

Lani said...

Yes I do want to kiss those cheeks off..and I will on Wed night! I'm so excited to see her and you and Steve and Easton!

Why does nursing have to be soooo painful? It's suppose be a natural thing. Billions of women have done it for thousands of years! But not my most favorite part of having a baby! There is no one who can help when she is hungry and cranky!

See you SOON!

You're my soul sister, Em. I think that's all I need to say.

On a side note, congrats on the baby girl.

I'd give you my number, but I don't know it. I could email it to you.
