Rambling

Every once in awhile I like to let you all in on the secret (or not so secret) annoyances of my life. Here are a few things that drive me nuts.

1. I am so over low-rise jeans. Bring on the grandma pants. After having a baby is just the worst time for clothes- wearing. I don't care if you're skinnier, bigger, saggier...whatever, everything is just in a different place and basically I just need a whole new wardrobe. My pants bug me the most.

2. Do you ever feel like everyone else’s babies are perfect? Sleeping through the night at 3 weeks, never fussy, perfect nursers and later perfect eaters? I don’t have those kind of babies. I love trying to help new moms however I can, because I love babies, but also because I had such a hard time after Easton was born, so I assume other people do too. Well, this is not the case. Whenever I call to offer anyone my services because "I know how hard it can be", they say, "oh no we're doing great, he/she is such a good baby..." Ugh.

3. Whenever I see other people with their hair in a ponytail I think it looks so cute. But when I put mine in a ponytail I feel like it’s just a cop out; like I’m too lazy to do anything else so I just throw it up.

4. I’m a grammar snob. I can’t stand misspelled words, sentences that don’t make sense, etc. There are exceptions though. Some people can get away with it because I love reading what they write no matter how it's spelled. Obviously I make mistakes too, but in a world with computers where EVERYTHING has spell check, it’s just ridiculous. And I write complete sentences when texting, with capital letters and real words. None of this ‘wnt 2 go 2 a movie 2 nite?’ crap. Exceptions apply here too: I lol. I think most people text this way, but it just kills me.Which brings me to my next item:

5. I love Craigslist. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, right? I know that all too well. Anyway, I love it, but I REFUSE to buy something from someone who doesn’t spell things right.

That's pretty much it for now. I re-read this 50 times, so everything better be spelled right, or I'm sure I'll hear about it.

Ha. I didn't know you were like that with spelling. Em, thanks for your grumbles today- because I have had a day and all I want to do is grumble. And it's nice to know someone else has things to deal with too!

Oh yeah, LOVE the blog makeover. Great pics. Love the collage.

I am scared to leave a comment now, I am terrible at spelling. But I can say you looked great last time I saw you, and your kids are great even if they are not perfect sleepers, eaters or nursers. Thanks for posting real stuff/feelings ect. it lets other moms know they are not the only unperfect ones. (I always end up feeling extremely inadaquate after blog reading!!) See you at bunco or sooner!

Ok so I have been throwing up for the last 24 hours and didn't think anything would ever make me laugh again, but cousin you just did it. Thanks. :)

You make me laugh!! And I think you look chic with a pony tail!

I love that you won't buy something from someone that can't spell!!!
I love this post. Oh, and I feel whenever my hair is in ponytail I feel like there is a broom on the back of my head, and I don't text with punctuation and stuff b/c it would take me 2 years. I will work on it.
Cute banner too!

I'm sure you have a grand old time reading my blog. I don't make any sense half the time!

My babies are not perfect either. Ben was a way easier baby than Jake but he still has his issues. Jake is kicking my trash. Bring on the advice!

Liz, you said he slept through the night! I thought you were one of the moms I hated...glad to know you're with me.

Amen, "Sista" I have to agree with everything you said, maybe except the baby advice. I hardly remember yesterday, let alone what my children were like when they were babies.

Actually, I have never even been on Craigs list, so that one I have to exclude myself from as well.

LOL

OK, I love your new header! And, who calls you to complain about their kids ALL the time??? Does that make you feel better? And I'm never texting you again! Now that I know you're such a grammar freak, I'm a little scared to comment too. I know you hate people that use too many exclamation points too. Well, that would be me!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thare, dos that mak you mad????????????????????????

Hey, Funny Girl! I love the new header and was about to ask when Carly got her name added to the family.

From what I can tell,it's not hip to spell things out when you text now days.

Welcome to the world of Granny pants.

The people who claim to have no trouble with their baby are LYING.

I always appreciated you wanting to hold my baby. It was very nice.

My ponytails look like crap. There is no way yours look more cop-out than my once inch stub.

I hope you aren't talking about me on #2! Because my baby isn't sleeping through the night anymore! The little stinker. I knew it was too good to last. But I am with you on the texting. I spell everything out, also!

I haven't even had a baby and I'm sick of all my clothes. I haven't purchased anything new in like... FOREVER! Wanna swich clothes?! haha! Also, every time I blog, I have mistakes and I always think of you because I know you hate it, but I'm just too lazy to fix it. I'm sorry, I'll do better!

I HATE that kind of texting too. So dumb!!! I mean, really- you'd only have to type like 1 more letter to make the real word.

And that story about "another man's trash being another man's treasure". SO FUNNY!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I'm sure steve had good intentions at heart when he said that! love it!

Good rambling. I hate Craigslist idiots too. Seriously, if you are too stupid to put a sentence together then you I don't want your junk (I say that as if I haven't mistakenly written "your" instead of "you're" a million times - I know which is which but I often don't pay attention when typing - sorry!)

And you know I so sympathize about the body shifting after babies. Man, it sucks. You look fabulous as the new Emily so no worries.

Haha!!! You crack me up! I can relate to some of those for sure. And you can come help me out with my baby N-E-day! (how'd you like that spelling? :)

Meg said...

1. I agree. I had to by myself some "big girl pants" that were a few sizes up for awhile after having my babies. My hips just didn't fit like they used to into my old pants. I guess it's all that loose jello hip action that happens when we give birth.

2. I agree with Ileene. Other people lie! All babies have to be somewhat difficult right?! Mine were very hard. It does get easier though.

3. Then I cop out every day and no it's not cute.

4. How's my spelling so far?

Jill said...

I love it when you ramble! Amen to all these things!

P.S. LOVE the pic of Carly smiling in your header! Who knew she could get cuter?!

The baby thing....I'm right there with you Em. I don't get it. I know I should be happy for people when they say, "Oh we're great, she's been sleeping through the night since the night we got home from the hospital." Or when they come to church a week later in normal clothes sitting on a hard pew in no pain....I want to barf all over them. The worst is when they take credit for it...like it's their fantastic parenting that causes them to have a perfect baby. What's that saying about us parents with harder babies? That it's our fault. Yeah, so I should probably get off my soapbox. = ) love you em

Brenley said...

Love this! I think I might try this myself!

I totally agree, especially with the spelling/grammar thing. ESPECIALLY if it's on a professional website or flyer or something. Why would I want your service if you can't even spell?

My babies didn't sleep through the night until....well, I'll let you know when it happens. I think most people just think if they keep telling others that everything is OK and their baby is really good that it will come true.

I'm adding to your list a dislike for people who are still skinny after having kids. Sorry. You're in that group. In all other ways I still like you.
