I Need Help

Oh how I would love to be posting about all of the great books I have been reading, but since I haven't been reading any, you get to read about what I watch on tv instead. And hopefully it is what you watch too, because these shows are the bomb.

There are so many...where to begin?
Monday- House. I jumped into this show a couple seasons ago and now I love it. I especially love this season, since House went to the loony bin. He's different, yet the same. Sometimes I couldn't handle his narcissistic ways and he drove me crazy.
How I Met Your Mother- Funny, slightly (okay sometimes more than slightly) inappropriate, but we have come to love it.
Big Bang Theory- This was a surprise hit for me. We started by watching re-runs and turns out we really liked it. I'm not a trek-y, or a genius, but I still love it. Love Raj.Tuesday- So You Think You Can Dance. I am still going through withdrawals from my dancers from last season...the seasons are too close together. I miss you Jeanine, Kayla, Jeanette and Brandon!! After this week there are a few people that I am really starting to like. Jacob is fantastic, Eleaner (as Cat calls her) is good too, but Ryan with the tiny head bugs me. He reminds me of the guy on Men In Black...where they shoot off his head and it gets really tiny before it grows back. And Mollee, it would be lovely if you went home too.
NCIS- This is one we DVR and when we're REALLY strapped for a good show we turn it on. I always end up liking it when we watch it, but it's not one of my faves.

Wednesday- SYTYCD Results. Did anyone else want to punch the tv when Mollee and Nathan didn't get put in the bottom 3?
Modern Family- This show is just funny. Manny is our favorite. There is even a kid in our ward who looks like him and oh how we wish it was. Who's family isn't a little dysfunctional? It's fun to watch another family's craziness (even a tv family).
Criminal Minds. I think I can safely say that this is my favorite show. Is it weird that my favorite show is about serial killers? Maybe, but it fascinates me. Every week I look forward to this show the most and it never disappoints. Okay this week maybe a little, with Gavin Rossdale as a vampire...a little crazy, but they did find a way to slip in a Twilight reference. See, it's such a hip show.
Glee. Oh I love you Glee. Thursday- Community and the Office. Community we love, but it seems like the Office is slowly losing steam. Love Abed.Bones- I first started watching this show because an old family friend was on it. He isn't on it anymore, but I realized I loved it anyway so I still watch. Sometimes it's gross though.
Fringe- Speaking of gross, this show is not for those with a weak stomach. Everything that happens is completely ridiculous and could never really happen, but it's interesting and freaky.
Friday- Monk. I used to just watch this because Steve loved it, and I almost always fell asleep. But now I love it and never miss it. We are all a little OCD sometimes, right?

I feel like I'm addicted to tv now more than ever. And I'm in big trouble when my winter shows start (Lost, 24, American Idol). It's just so nice to crash at the end of the day and do something that requires no thinking.

I'm pathetic. Anyone know a good book I can read?

We are also big Glee, Monk, and SYTYD, and Community fans! We also love Psych, but its not on right now until January. I love being able to relax without kids at night and watch our shows together. Good times...

Children of the Promise by Dean Hughes. Or Faith of Our Fathers by N.C Allen. When I read Children of the Promise I was OBSESSED and couldn't stop talking about it. It's a 5 book series that has a great Mormon twist and takes you all over WW2. I learned a lot. I'm reading Faith of our Fathers now, and like it a lot, there a 3 or 4 in this series that takes place during the Civil War. 3 Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson is way good. It's a true story about a man who ends up building schools for children in Pakistan- way good. If you want something a little wacky and VERY funny- Terry Pratchett is a british author of the DISCWORLD series. I read Going Postal and thought it was HILARIOUS. He has a million books. Did you ever read UGLIES? I loved that too. Good luck!

Did I ever comment on the last post? Carly looks so precious in that cheetah outfit. I love it!!! And don't feel bad about tv. We've all been there, I know I have.

LOVE THIS POST! You are NOT pathetic! I totally do the same thing. Sometimes, I think I'm rediculous because I wake up in the morning and I think "what day is it...OH, that means this show is on today". It's just so great. It gives you something to look forward to always!!

I LOVE GLEE I LOVE GLEE I LOVE GLEE! I also share your love for criminal minds! The characters are just all so good! I am dying to watch modern family, but haven't been able to catch it yet. Love house, community, the office, sytycd, etc.

excellent taste sister! But seriously, I need a new book too.

LOVE YOU and can't wait to see you!

Really, there is nothing better to do at night when you have young'ns than to relax and watch some good shows. We mostly have the same show except I have more. I agree that I was dying that Mollee wasn't in the bottom. I also thought I hated Legacy (do hate the name) but I liked him this week. I miss last season, they didn't give us a chance to get over them.

I have found myself watching the nerd show before too and I admit it pulls you in. But I can't believe 30 Rock still isn't on your list. That show is hilarious.

Man, I wish I had 3 DVR's.

You are not pathetic, but I hate to say that I don't watch half of your shows, mostly cause they're about serial killers and freaky, gross stuff. So, sorry I can't comment on much except for Glee and SYTYCD, which I haven't even watched yet this week. I don't even know their names yet. I wish you would like Survivor, Grey's and Private Practice. Then we would have more to talk about.

Wow our DVR lists are totally different. How are we friends? ha ha totally kidding! I love TV way too much too. It is just so easy to sit there and not have to think about anything.

Now my only concern is this... why aren't you watching Project Runway??? ;)

I love Glee!!!!! I am with you about Office and Community. I loved the one this week where Abed could tell the future! I haven't watched many of the new Monks, I need to.
As for books I have been reading a lot of Where the Wild Things Are, The Way I Feel, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. I would suggest any of these.

We can so stay friends. We love Glee, Community, and Modern Family too. But, come on, how can you not be watching Parks & Recreation?

Bringhursts said...

But seriously, shouldn't you be reading the Book of Mormon?

Thanks for making me feel good about myself today. I think I actually watch less T.V. Than you. I try not to get into any new shows each year. I think i only watch Bones and Glee from your list, but I keep wanting to catch Criminal minds. I also just finished the Children of the Promise series that Megan mentioned. You've probably already read them, I know mom did when they first came out. Anyway, Happy T.V. watching!

No 30 Rock? I watch most of these shows too. LOVE Community and Big Bang Theory. And hooray for DVR because now I can watch SYTYCD without Darren. TV is the perfect way to unwind after a crazy day with crazy kids. But mostly I can't wait for Idol and Lost.

I think 30 Rock was one of those shows that started right when Easton was born (like Heroes), so I never got into it because I had a newborn and couldn't keep up with tv. I'll have to check it out, everyone says it's hilarious.

Love this! I always feel bad that we crash in front of the TV as soon as the kids are in bed. Love Community, SYTYCD, House, and agree that The Office should be about done. I LOVED the group dance tonight - Wade's museum statues dance. So awesome! We used to love Scrubs, but we've seen them all now and I can only handle so many reruns. Dave is not a major Glee fan, so I don't watch it much, either. What about Heroes?

The Book Thief is an awesome read. Also, The Hunger Games. I like YA lit. It's usually quick, but also good. London recommends "Walking Through The Jungle".

I remember how I couldn't wait to watch St. Elsewhere on Thursday evening when you kids were in bed. I'm going to go watch Bones now and see if I can stay awake through the whole thing, my how things change. I'm trying out Mercy but am not sure about it yet, I do like Glee. What happened to Family Ties and the Cosby Show? We watch a lot of O Riley around here:)

I was going to suggest the Book Thief to you too, our book club liked it a lot, also you might like Jan Karon's books, I just read Home to Holly Springs. I am determined to finish Friday Night Knitting Club on the train. We have some good books lined up for next year so I'm excited.
Love and miss you guys!

Okay, Derek and I discovered Gary Unmarried last season- it comes on Wednesday night. Funny stuff. Reminds me of King of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond. Check it out.

It seems all I do is watch TV. Some of my faves are The Office, The Middle (it's new and pretty funny), Project Runway (season finale just aired last week though), and Law and Order. A couple of shows that we were watching but seem to have vanished are Kath and Kim (loved that show!) and The Goode Family. We've also been watching Flash Forward which has me intrigued but I'm slightly concerned it will crawl along like Lost does. Speaking of Lost, it's also one of my faves, along with American Idol. And two shows that aren't new (but I love watching the reruns anyway) are Malcolm in the Middle and Frasier.

As far as books go...sorry...I can't recommend any. It's far easier for me to sit and be lazy watching TV than actually use my brain and read a book. :o)

Oh I am with you...

Monday - One Tree Hill (love this show)

Tuesday - SYTYCD. Awesomeness!!!! Greg doesn't like Ryan either but he is a mormon so we should cut him a little slack. Plus his head is so small because his muscles are so big. It's Taylor Lautner-syndrome. I heart Jacob so much! And, Russell is growing on me a lot. Eleanor, Kathryn, and Ashley are all good too. Molee can go home tomorrow...

Biggest Loser!

V! It's done till the new year. But watch it online. It's AMAZING! And has Juliet from LOST.

Wed- results SYTYCD, results Biggest Loser

Thu- The Office, Fringe, and Vampire Diaries (I know...I'm a sucker!), Smallville

Sun - The Amazing Race

I can't give you book recommendations easily because you only have 7 books on Goodreads. Tsk. Tsk.

Have you read The Hunger Games yet? Or City of Bones? Or The Host?

Let me know....if you have already, I have more but start here.

Seriously? We have, like, no shows that overlap - with the exception of Glee, though I'm pretty sure EVERYONE loves that show! We're more Grey's, V and Ugly Betty People and I watch ANTM and Project Runway (this was the first season I watched) while Sean is gone during the week. Oh, and Dancing with the Stars. I don't read. :( I want to, but it always falls to the bottom of the priority list. Maybe once I'm at home more after the new year...
