Killer Bees

I couldn't resist the gorgeous weather we were having, so I took off for the coast with E and my sister and her friend. It is one of my favorite places on the planet, so since I'm leaving here soon for a place where there is no ocean, I had to take advantage. And it was GORGEOUS there; a little windy, but nothing we couldn't handle. It was a super fun day, except we kept getting attacked by these big bees, so after running around and throwing off our jackets, we packed up and left the beach. Driving down the road I hear my sister's friend freaking out because there was a bee in the car. Sure enough, I look in my rear view mirror and I see the biggest bee I had ever seen. It was more like a small bird. I totally freaked out and came very close to driving my car into the ocean. We opened all the windows and doors and forced that evil thing out. It was quite the sight...3 girls freaking out on the side of the road, car all crooked with all the doors open. Oh well, I was not worried about appearances...just worried about getting that thing out. I do not do bees.

Anyway, I'm one of those people who thinks it's totally normal to drive long distances just to take some cute pictures, so even though we weren't there for very long, the pictures of Easton made it well worth the trip. I'm sure I'll make it back there at least once before we move...even evil bees can't keep me away...

Emil,
Little Easton looks just like just like a Jolley in these pics. I wish we would have had time to hit the beach before we leave this week, makes me sad!

Parenthood is all about photo ops. We need to get to the coast for the same reason- pictures at the coast before we too are landlocked. I need to get to bed, it is 12am. I just finished writing my talk. Don't be surprised if I fall asleep over the pulpit tomorrow (or today, I should say).

We took a trip up to Tillamook right before me moved. The coast is about 15 min away from there, and it was a great photo op for the girls! There was an awesome mountain that came down in the middle of the "beach" that had houses on it. I think that was my favorite "beach" that I saw during my time in beautiful Oregon. The Tillamook ice cream factory was a great highlight too!

How fun! I want to go to the coast before we leave too. Easton looks so cute - totally worth the drive and dealing with killer bees. Those things are huge and scary. I love the mental picture of you guys screaming and running around from the bee. Just like Tommy Boy.

I'm glad you almost killed my child because of a "killer" bee. But the best part of your story is how you didn't mention where Easton was while you three girls were running around screaming. Did he remain in the car with the "killer" bee?

Yea, he wasn't as scared of the bee as we were. I think he thought we were all crazy.

Em, I love your beach pictures! It's funny with Oregon, I always want to say "beach" because of my time in hawaii but I know it's so different, when I say "beach", I think I should correct myself with "coast". Beach or coast, it sure is a beautiful place! Our trip to Lincoln City was great yesterday and I wish you and Steve and E could have come too. Maybe before you leave, we'll meet up over there in Newport or something for lunch at Mo's and some snap shots on the sand. I love you and will miss you so much!

OK so that was SUCH a fun day, and you all may think we're talking about a normal sized bee... OH NO... I was almost in tears, it was terrifying!

Easton was chill through the whole thing, he was being the man.
