Such Inequality

I have complained a lot to my friends lately about the ridiculousness of the amount of cute boy clothes available compared to the amount of cute girl clothes. We've been shopping a little lately because Easton is kind of in between sizes, and also trying to hit the after Christmas sales to get some things for next winter. I seriously leave almost every store totally pissed because there is nothing cute and cheap for boys. Recently a friend and I went to Old Navy because they usually have pretty good sales after Christmas. We found probably 2 cute boy things on sale and 5 million cute things for girls. She left with 5 or 6 items, totaling 15 dollars, and I left the 2 things that I saw there - just out of principle. There was one small sale section for boys, and like a whole half of the store dedicated to little girls (okay, possibly a slight exaggeration, but I KNOW you know what I mean).I do think that ON has cute boy clothes sometimes...part of it is that I'm just cheap and don't want to pay more for his clothes than I do for mine...but also, I want him to wear something besides STRIPES!!! Has anyone else noticed that most kid clothing stores only sell stripes? Don't believe me, click here. And here. And here.

Don't get me wrong, stripes can definitely be cute, but come on...everything in moderation.

I'm sure it's not as bad as I'm making it out to be...it's just my frustration, but seriously, those of you with girls have shopping SO easy. I could shop for girls for hours, and find tons of adorable things. For boys, it takes me 5 minutes once I weed out all the stripes. So, all you mothers of boys, any good stores I should know about that have cute stuff for my adorable little boy?

It's true. What can I say. I can't say I identify with you b/c I have a girl, but at least you dress Easton in cute stripes and not ugly ones. We will find some good sales for you yet Emily. Just wait and see.

I would like to quote Sabastian when I say, "the seaweed is always greener in sombody else's lake." What a wise little lobster he is. See, if you ask me, I can always find tons of cute boy clothes, and the only place I can find a good amount of good girl clothes is at Target.

I can find too many cute things for Alexis so my problem is that I want to leave the store buying them all and Jonathan is never too happy about that! Then I want to buy the matching pants, cardigan, socks, dress shoes, headband and purse, so I hope that I get to simplify my life and budget with a boy next!

Excellent question! When you find out let me know because I am having the same problem with Drew!

We decided to be suprised and not find out if we were having a boy or a girl, so I was secretly so excited when we had Claire because shopping for girls is sooo much more fun :) One thing that I think is so cute on little boys is hats -and sports stuff. I love all the basketball and soccer gear! :)

Chances are, if it doesn't have stripes, it will have some sort of ball or truck on it.

Cute clothes... I always can find something at Target on their little cheap t-shirts piles (of course there is one table dedicated to stripes). I used to find some great stuff on the clearance racks at Fred Meyer (OshKosh, my favorite).

But see when you have a girl it is so hard to find things that aren't PINK! Plus...the plethora of clothes to choose from for girls makes it hard to decide where to spend your money or makes it hard not to spend money. There are problems both ways honey. ANd I don't think you need any help, E always looks so cute.

I am sad that you didn't find anything at Children's Place cause I did and hardly any stripes. Although, now that you mention stripes, I'm getting a complex cause I think I dress Nathan is stripes a LOT! I love Polo shirts, but it's true. I think I should go with you to Children's Place. They still have their big sale going on, but it's mostly winter stuff and I don't know if you want that now. Let me know when you want to go, I still have a coupon!!!

I agree on the amount of boy stuff in stores. It is seriously 10 to 1 for girls to boy clothes! It drives me nuts!

i love our osh-kosh outlet. it runs big on my skinny boys, but cute stuff. and sometimes the carter's outlet is good too. go to stateline outlets, i'm sure you can find something good.

Yes, boys clothes are a little more difficult. Usually I like Childrens Place, but that is hit and miss. Lately I have found some good deals and clothes and JCPenney's. I wish I had better suggestions, but let me know what you discover!

I totally know what you're talking about! JcPenny had a good sale recently, but there was next to nothing for Gavin. All we bought was dresses for a daughter who doesn't even exist yet!

We have found cute, cheap-ish boy things at WalMart and Target. I think the only alternative to stripes is character clothes - you know, stuff with Lightening McQueen on it. I hate for my toddler to be a walking ad for Disney, but there really just aren't many options! Good luck!

I agree with you, it is so much harder to find cute boy clothes than girl clothes. The boy's clothes also always have something weird on them that I usually don't like.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who has noticed this problem! When I had Shailey it was SO EASY to find cute things for her (but I agree with another post that you really have to like the color pink, too, since it's hard to find cute clothes in other colors). As for my boys? It's so hard to find cute stuff. And I know what you mean about the stripes thing. It seems that about 80% of my boys' clothes have stripes.

And I am totally the same way about wanting to get clothes for awesome deals. Do retailers even KNOW how fast kids wear out clothes? I'm not going to spend $20 on a shirt that he's going to stain the first time he wears! Anyway, I just end up getting most of their clothes at Target or Old Navy, but like you said even that's hit and miss. :o(

Um, I did notice that your slidshow of Easton is all in stripes...hahaha! Maybe you should take up sewing??? :)

It is the truth. I just try to be thankful that I don't have a girl to dress. I think I would go broke!

But I know what you mean about the stripes!

I guess you should probably start thinking about having a little girl so that you can put your shopping to good use! Just a suggestion!!!
