Our House

I am SO happy to report that we found a house and don't have to be homeless! This was the second house that we looked at, and we loved it from the minute we saw it; it's just so perfect for us. It was a long process in getting it though. When we walked through with our realtor, it wasn't technically even listed yet, and we called every other day to see if they knew the price on it, and never got any info. Meanwhile we're worried we're going to get kicked out of our rental. So we continue to look at other houses that don't even compare to this one, and then we start looking at another house to rent just in case we didn't find anything before we got kicked out. Long story short (er), just when we were deciding (literally, on our bed talking after going to look at 3 houses we didn't like) to stop looking to buy and focus on renting, we got the call that our house was listed, and right smack in the middle of our price range. We made an offer the next morning and after a couple long weeks, hopes up, hopes down...we GOT IT!

It's a quaint little house, just a little bigger than what we have now, but what appeals to us is all the nice upgrades, and the fact that it just looks so nice and move - in ready...we won't have to spend a lot of money to fix it up. 4 Bedrooms, 3 baths, loft...we love it!

Here are a couple of pictures...I took random ones because I wanted to show the little things that made me really like it. The front...I LOVE it! Cute garage door, cute black front door and shutters!

This is the loft...I have big plans to make this a cute playroom...we'll see if it happens.

Our small, red kitchen. The red is growing on me...we'll see if it stays.

Bathroom...not too exciting. I'm just glad that the shower and tub are separate. In our house now they are combined and I cannot even explain how much I hate cleaning our bathtub.

This seriously sold me on the house. This is the closet in the master bedroom.

Laundry room and garage. I like the cabinets in the laundry room, and Steve loves the epoxy flooring in the garage and the cabinets are nice there too, since this house is lacking in storage space.
So that's it...we move in around the 23rd, and I'm so lucky to have this talented girl coming to visit that same week! She will be the painter.

WOW! Great place! I loved the closet and the nice big bathtub (and bathroom). I am really happy for you guys and just a tiny bit (okay a lot) jealous that you're going to be living in your OWN HOUSE! Someday! Good luck with the move!

Ok, you cannot call this a QUAINT house, it's AMAZING! I can't believe you're going to live there! And own it! I hate you! Do you understand that I live in a square of 12ft by 12ft? Sigh. Only 5 more months, then back to real living! So funny- the red kitchen- that would SELL me on the place. Hilarious that it's the opposite for you :) I'm SO HAPPY for you! What a blessing! Awesome you get some help with the painting! Congrats!

I am in LOVE and JEALOUS of your house- but I can still be happy for you that you won't be homeless and that you're not moving TOO far away! I couldn't stop talking to Chris about it last night. I want to buy one right next door, that's just as nice!

It is beautiful!!! Loved the pictures and can't wait to see it in person, hopefully soon. I am so happy that it all worked out. What a fun place to bring a new baby sister home to. The loft will make a perfect play room.

I'm LOVING the black shutters too. VERY cute house! You will love the loft for a playroom. I don't want to imagine my life without a playroom.

Have fun painting the walls!

Congratulations!!

Wow! Is that really your definition of "quaint little house?" Seriously Em. I love the loft and the closet and the kitchen and the... If I were the jeaouls type, I might be jealous!! Keep the Red.

congrats! you've got to have a big house warming party.
and there is NOTHING wrong with a red kitchen- that's what i have and i LOVE it!!! ;)

4 bedroom/3 bath is a "quaint little house"?! Sheesh! That's twice as many bedrooms as we have now and 2 more bath. I REALLY hate having only one bathroom. I would even settle for a 1/2 bath. I just want an extra toilet!! Anyway... the house looks AWESOME! Loved the pictures - I can't wait to see more when you're moved in. I'm loving the closet and the master bath. Very nice. I'm sorry, but the red in the kitchen would probably have to go for me... though it beats just plain white walls! Congrats!

Lucky Ducks... We seriously need a bigger house. It was perfect when we had it built, we didn't have any kids. But with the age difference between our kids, and even if the baby is a boy... Brennen's night terrors, we're getting a little cramped. We could deffenatly by a great house in our price range, but wouldn't be able to sell our house for what we need.

I'm excited for you guys, but it will be probably a year before I'll get to see it (depending on where you have the baby blessed).

Lots of Love

You're house rocks!!!! I'm so excited to see it and help you guys move in. But don't go saying I'm talented just yet...remember the problems I've had in our own house??? You may want to reconsider letting me do anything to yours!

However, this will put us one step closer to our ultimate goal, to be the painters we were born to be!

Okay, so I have permission to despise you now....jk....you and steve have definitely earned this place. It's awesome! That closet.....I mean....what? Killer! So....the red in the kitchen has to go! Let me explain....I had a bright dining room, and I've had a bright red bedroom....it adds intensity....so you'll find you'll get annoyed easier. Plus, maybe if the cabinetry were white, it could work, but the cabinetry gets lost in a color that's too similar....yuck! I get stressed out enough in the kitchen sometimes when it's dirty and I'm cooking too many things at once....it needs to be more relaxing....I know they say red stimulates the appetite, but whose appetite really needs to be more stimulated these days? All I have to do is think about food, and I want to eat. Wow, I'm really intense on this subject....I just know that if it were me, it would drive me crazy (it would probably be subconscious most of the time, so I don't want you to fall into that trap, thinking, it's okay, when it's really messing with your mind)....that's all. Okay....serious rant....I painted our dining room a bright, intense color, cuz I wanted it to be happy. We had it like that for 2 years. All the time I felt like our house was dirty, and I felt like our table was ugly, and i was stressed a lot. Well, a year ago I painted the dining room a soothing light blue/grey, and It has made HUGE difference. i love our table, I feel calm and relaxed in there, and the house feels cleaner.....see what I mean.....I didn't realize the source of the problem was the stupid paint color until I changed it....so....that's my word from the wise....tehe : )

I'm so happy for you! It is such a cute house. Wow. It looks so nice and new and HUGE. Shad would love the epoxy floor too. He's always so picky about our garage floor getting oil on it. (I'm rolling my eyes at him right now. = )

I LOVE the master closet. Wow. It's great that it's already done and everything.

Have fun decorating!
