Some Good Ol' Complaining

I tried hard to not make the last 9 months of this blog about my pregnancy, but now that I only have 3 weeks left it's all I can think about....so, sorry. But this time around has been so much different than the last time. With Easton I LOVED being pregnant. I wasn't in pain, I didn't have heartburn...the only thing I could complain about was being super swollen. Other than that, no big deal. He even came a week early so I wasn't at the "get this baby out of me" stage. I think I was just so nervous to have a baby that I wouldn't have minded a few more weeks to prepare (and sleep). But then he would have been 13 lbs instead of 9...so it all worked out.

Anyway, this time, it's not so much that I'm ready to be a mother of 2, but I'm ready to be done being pregnant (and I'm sure everyone around me feels the same way). It makes me sad that I haven't enjoyed it as much this time as I did last time. I think it all pretty much started when we moved. There was just so much chaos and stress, it was physically and emotionally draining, and I don't think I really fully recovered. Then having tons of projects to do that were house related or baby related...I might not have taken it as easy as I should have, and now I feel like a 90 year old woman when I get in or out of bed.

And poor Steve...I know for a fact that I have complained a LOT lately, and he has been nice to put up with it (although I know in his mind he's probably thinking, "no more kids, no more kids...my wife is crazy..."), as well as being so helpful.

Then somewhere in the middle of all this madness, we decided it would be a good idea to potty train Easton. Good in theory, when you think about having only 1 in diapers...but sometimes I wish we had waited, even though he is doing excellent. It's just that when they go to the bathroom they have to touch EVERYTHING, and they play in the sink and have to do everything "by myself". Plus, he is now to the point where he wants to go to the bathroom everywhere we go...and I'm definitely not going to test him to see if he really needs to go, so I have to take him, even if he just squeezes out one little drop. We go 3 0r 4 times during sacrament, easy. So even though it kills me to lift him on and off, and lift him up to wash his hands, I'm happy to have a diaper-free toddler.

One really happy thing that has been going on lately is that Easton has been taking these giant naps. Being a good sleeper is not something he has ever been known for. In fact, the week his grandparents were here he was waking up 3-5 times a night for no reason. He has come a long way that's for sure, but still, he's not the best sleeper. But lately, I get at least 2 hours, and sometimes, like today, 3. What? They have come at the best time and I am so grateful.

I'm hoping to make it until July, but any time after that I'll be "ready" to meet this little girl. Which means I still have a couple of weeks to expand her giant hair bow collection.
I think there's a baby under there...I'm not sure.
I have no idea who this is.

How did you get that picture of Alice with the bow :)
I think you are doing great. You are allowed to complain!!!!! I can't believe that Roberta is going to be here so soon. I can't wait to meet her. I am so glad that Easton slept good for you today!!!!

I wonder why my husband wants to be done with kids, especially since I do most of the childcare and then I realize he doesn't want me pregnant again. I must admit, it is a fair argument for not increasing our family.

Ah, pregnancy. Go ahead and complain. We all have done it ourselves.

Hahahaha!!!! I love that last comment.....giant hair bow collection...that's what ALL the girls are wearing these days. Cute and something fun to look forward to! And a little silly too! :) but yeah, is there really a baby under there? :)

E is totally potty trained? You're super woman! I hope he stays that way when sister comes...you've heard the stories...GO E!

If you can't complain while you're pregnant, when can you? Plus moving and potty training... that's a lot to take on. If it makes you feel any better, I've been complaining about being pregnant since I got pregnant. I've never really liked it. But I sure do love those babies!!

That hair band is so massive! I'm excited for you to have a girl! How different that will be! Sorry everything sucks, excpet for the being pregnant part, I can relate. Sometimes things just suck. I'm sorry. I'm glad Steve's been a trooper and the long naps are suddenly happening. Hang in there. Do something nice, like soak your feet or take a bath. I don't know, maybe these things do nothing when you're pregnant. They always make me feel better.

Brynne, how I wish he was TOTALLY potty trained...we have our moments for sure, but we're getting there!

Seriously, complain all you want - pregnancy is hard! I never understood anyone who didn't want to be done being pregnant, especially by 36 weeks.

I secretly hope she comes before July 1st so I can hold her before she is a month old! And lets make some big bows before that too because I know you love them!

You have every right to complain and we can sit around feeling sorry for you, cause we know that it's not fun when you can't even roll out of bed.
I'm happy that Easton is doing so well with the potty training, and in a few months you won't be regretting it and I'll just be getting started. You know I'll be complaining to you about all the messes I'll be cleaning up!!

Good for you that you can actually say you did enjoy at least one of your pregnancies.... I know everyone says it's such a beautiful thing, but I absolutely hated being pregnant. In between throwing up constantly and having the baby kicking my ribs all night so that I never slept, I was never really a fan of it. Of course the kids are totally worth it, but I think it will be awhile before I am ready to do that again. Hang in there!! You are allowed to complain as much as you want! And way to go Easton for being potty trained AND taking great naps! That always helps a ton in the last month. Good luck! Can't wait to see pictures of that little girl!

It's ok!!! I'm ready too, but I'm older and fatter than you.
Please be very careful about getting depressed. I have a really good friend who is struggling with postpartum, and has been for six months. It's been really hard to watch, and she doesnt' like to ask for help, so it's been hard to get her to except help. So if you need help, Ask!!!! I'll stop being the bossey SIL now.
Love Ya

Glad you haven't lost your sense of humor, it is a hard time and I can't imagine moving and redecorating along with it. I liked Megan's ideas of treating yourself to some special things the next couple weeks.

Roberta?? Please tell me no!

Steve you are awesome! Hang in there guys, she is going to be so worth it and if she waits untill she is due, I will have some projects done. She is only thinking of her grandma.

I don't know a single pregnant woman who doesn't complain! I know I did! ALOT! I think it's part of the process ... getting you ready to have the responsibility of the new baby with all of the hard work they entail :) Anything is better than feeling all huge and uncomfortable! Even LABOR!

But then the miricle happens ... when they put that sweet new little baby in your arms and you smile the biggest smile of your life and some how all the pain and misery fades into the background as you and your baby lock eyes and an eternal bond is made. You will never be the same again. Which is why we keep having more babies after the first one because that miricle happens everytime!!!

Amen, Lani. You said exactly what I was feeling. I would even do it again, now.....I think. Since I have no grandbabies yet, it's easy to be optimistic about such an endeavor.

Em, be good to yourself. That sweet little girl will be here and she will be the next great joy in your life. I love my girls!

I love to hear you complain. You're a very positive person, always looking for the good. But pregnancy definitely deserves plenty of complaining and when you add moving and potty training on top of it, it makes ME tired! And I'm not carrying a watermelon around with me everywhere like you!

I'm glad Easton is treating you good with his naps. That is such a saving grace. Take it easy during those naps with Oprah and a carton of ice cream.

Hey, everybody has the right to complain every once in a while. Or everyday, like me. I hope that baby comes early and gives you some relief.

Hang in there babe. I know you are so uncomfortable and hating this. I'll be thinking about you! Just think about how cute she's going to be. I'm all about the big flowers in the hair. :)

I'm thinking that maybe since you are feeling all the pain now, she'll be a really happy, easy, good sleeping baby for you! It makes sense right!? I love her already and can't wait to hold her. I totally have dibs in August! Good luck in the next few weeks.

I love Steve's comment the best. You know he has to say that right?! :)

Truth is. The uncomfortableness is God's way of helping up actually want to go through childbirth (especially after we have done it once.)

And also....the other truth is that we are never really ready to have a baby whether it's one, two, or three kids we are having. But we figure it out. And figure out our groove and that is part of being a mom too.

You will be grateful that you potty trained Easton now because you will have no time or energy for that when the baby comes. So good job mom!

I honestly hope you have this baby soon, so that when we come to LV in the middle of July you can come swim at the Bellagio with us. Or maybe have her realy late. But I would love to get some pictures of her.

It won't be much longer! I know everybody says that and despite their encouraging thoughts sometimes those last few weeks drag on anyway. :o) Really try and take it easy though. Don't wear yourself out right before she's born. I think every woman goes through a pregnancy she doesn't enjoy. I don't think ANY of us like those last few weeks at any rate. But it makes the part AFTER the pregnancy (that sweet little baby) so much sweeter. :o) Good luck!!

That's right sister... let it all out!! I would like to say, you are SO not a complainer. You make pregnancy and parenting look easy. SO, prepare yourself for the day when I'm pregnant and I'll probably just complain all day. I'll try to do as you do and just be cool, but I don't know how you do it!! I"M READY FOR BABY GIRL ROGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lauren said...

You are so entitled to a little complaining. I think anyone who has been pregnant would understand. She is going to be here so soon, very exciting I am sure!!

Ok, seriously, Roberta???

Anyway, it seems like moving and pregnancy always seems to go hand and hand. "Let's see, now that you're big and prego, we'll throw in packing, moving, unpacking, decorating, etc, etc. into the mix." Not to mention the potty training. I'm still patiently waiting until just the right time... :)

Good luck with the next couple weeks and I'll try not to hold it against you that you're taking your mom away from us for Girls Camp!!
