My Las Vegas

I live in Sin City. I love it here, but for the most part, we really don't frequent any of the places that give this city that nickname. I do like going to the strip, but for different reasons than most people. There is great people watching, lots of fun things to do for kids, great food, entertainment, etc. But really, sometimes months go by before I go down there. I have everything I need close by, and to be honest, sometimes I forget it's even there.

My good friend Sarah came to visit this weekend...not really to see me, but to have the whole vegas experience. She comes a couple times a year, but what I love about her is that she always tries to take time out of her busy clubbing schedule to see me. Even if it's just for lunch, or just a ride to or from the airport, at least she lets me know she's in town.

Yesterday we spent a few hours together, and in the car she was telling me about her weekend...she came for her sister's 21st birthday and they had a good time going from club to club, meeting people, staying out all night...doing what people come here to do. I love hearing about her adventures (which really aren't too scary), but I told her, "wow, you know a vegas that I will never know...that's so weird."

Then I decided it was her turn to experience my vegas.

First, a trip to Target, where I couldn't stop talking about how excited I was to be there with just one kid. We shopped for pacifiers, diapers, and toys for Easton's upcoming birthday. We then went to pick up Easton from my friend's house and Sarah was thrown into the stay at home mother of 2 life. She was probably equally as freaked out about what she saw and heard, than I would be if I spent the day (night) with her downtown. To start, there were 4 kids there. Then 2 more came. I had to feed Carly, and after that, my almost 3 year old pooped his pants during his nap. After that, my 6 week old had a loud and explosive diaper of her own. So I spent a good 20 minutes of my time cleaning up poop. And during all this, Sarah sat there while my 2 friends and I discussed who was going to watch whose kids, which day, at whose house...really exciting stuff.

It's always fun to see Sarah, I just hope she still calls me next time she comes, and that my wild and crazy lifestyle allows me to see her.

Well, your Vegas has it's own kind of excitement. I felt bad if your friend thought we were crazy. And lucky you with the pooping madness. Fun fun stuff.

Ditto. I have a friend coming to town on Thurs and it's always a dillema- what to do to entertain out-of-towners when the strip is not my favorite place to be. A trip to Target sounds great to me and all I can talk about it getting diapers for the cheapest price using all my couponing tactics! Now that's exciting stuff! Oh, and poop too!

I seriously felt so cool when I was asking you guys what you were making for dinner. She probably thought we were so cool.
You forgot the most exciting part, picking out paint colors!

Ha ha 2 poops in a row! Thats awesome/funny/totally sucky!! FUn that you got to see Sarah though!

Its funny that you live in the same vegas as everyone visits and talks about but your idea of it is so different! I think i would prefer your vegas life more than the alternative though! Even if it does include loud kids and poops galore!:)

That's funny! I'm sure Sarah is as fascinated with your day to day life as you are hers. Always fun to live a day in the life with someone in a different situation than you.
Sorry about all the poop, though. I'm so proud of Easton for getting potty trained before little Carly arrived. Buying 2 sets of diapers is painful.

We should rename it "Poop City"

Yes, I want to see you when you come to town (read: I want to see Carly)!!

How funny. I think I prefer your lifestyle. Nothing better than raising children and watching them grow!!!!!

Hard to compare.

Oh, its good for Sarah. She needs a little normal family life experiences to keep her grounded. I love it because any of our friends that don't have kids come to stay with us really get to know what FAMILY means! Keep up the good work Emily.

Oh my gosh! Somehow I missed this post! Sarah looks great! I sometimes wonder about her, because I haven't heard about her since High School, really. That's great you're still in touch, I had no idea.
