Don't Forget Thanksgiving!

My favorite holiday is rapidly approaching. I feel bad for Thanksgiving because people seem to forget about it a little bit. Sure it's packed right in between 2 other majorly fun holidays, but it still deserves some love. I keep hearing about people playing Christmas music already. WHAT?

I have been trying to think back on why Thanksgiving is my favorite, or when it became that way, but I can't. It just is, and always has been (since I can remember). I think I just have a million memories of family, friends, tradition, food, games, movies, naps, etc...oh my gosh I love it. Thanksgiving with Jolleys and Mitchells = Best Ever. Although, no matter where I am or who I'm with, it's still my favorite. I have been trying to talk to Easton about Thanksgiving a little bit every day, and we have been coming up with a good list of things we're grateful for. 4 year olds just eat up learning about new things, and it's the best to see something click, so it has been fun for me.

Here is part of our list so far:
Easton is thankful for
*Buzz Lightyear
*Being healthy...We have been talking a lot about being healthy lately because the Cupcakes 4 Cancer race is coming up. We talk about Greg and how he is sick and we hope he gets better, and how lucky we are to have our health. Now every time I tell him someone is sick (like today he asked to play with Nathan and I told him Nathan was sick) he asks if they are losing their hair. Sweet or maybe a little offensive? I hope not, but it seems to make for good discussions.

Every day I ask him to name something new that he is thankful for, so by Thanksgiving we should have a good, long, interesting list.

This week I'm thankful for:
*My husband
*My kids
* My health (everyone seems to be getting sick!!!)
*Daylight savings. It kinda screwed us up, but E has taken 2 naps this week and it has been nice.
* That Carly is loving her dad more (she always loved him, but has mostly been a mama's girl).
*Girls Weekend in St George in a week and a half!
*Pre-school. I am 100% certain that Easton's pre-school teacher is one of the best in the world. We love her SO MUCH.
*Baby Tyce

Christmas music, you'll have to wait until Thanksgiving is over.

Oh my friend I could not agree with you more! T-day is my favorite holiday too! Except, really for me it is about all the eating. Who doesn't love a holiday where you eat your heart out.. wait a few hours and eat some more? Love it!

I can't listen/decorate for Christmas until after it is over either. It kinda bugs me when people do that!

Lastly, I read that little boy's story today on the cupcakes for cancer blog and I just bawled my eyes out. I could not imagine. I'm excited to do that run/walk with you.

Woo! Longest comment ever!

I also love Thanksgiving. A holiday all about food? That's right up my alley. I look forward to turkey, stuffing, yams, and pumpkin pie - things that I love but only get to eat on that day (and sometimes Christmas). And I love what you're doing with Easton. I need to start asking my kids what they are thankful for.

sorry, Thanksgiving is like, really low on my list of favorite holidays... But girls weekend sounds good! I have a new nephew too! Born today, Nathan James.

haha the losing hair statement wasn't offensive, it was cute and funny. Ahna- our little neighbor- 5 years old- always said the funniest things about my baldness. And my neice who was 4 at the time- said "hey you look like my dad" (who is bald) haha, that is realyl sweet you have been talking to him about it. I LOVED what he was thankful for - the family and buzz light year- so funny, love it. sweet post.

Who's baby tyce? A new nephew? Good post. Super cute about all Easton's gratefuls. Thanksgiving is so not on my radar. If it never happened, I wouldn't notice. Not a biggie for me. But I hate big groups and parties. I usually escape to a corner and wait for it to pass. And I'm just not that big on food. I'm big on the SWEETS, but not turkey or stuffing. So, I guess that could be why I don't care about it. But yea for you! Are you coming to Oregon? Oooo, are you for Christmas????

I have to admit, I have been one of those people listening to Christmas music before Halloween. But not this year. I am going to enjoy Thanksgiving because it really is a fabulous holiday. It is so fun to think of all that we have to be grateful for and teach the little ones.

And I agree, their preschool teacher is the best EVER!!

I am more into Thanksgiving this year than I have in a while.... maybe it has something to do with having a lot to be thankful this year. [This move really has worked out the best for us!] That and I able to teach Ethan more about it. Last year I think I started playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving, but as of yet, I have not put a single Christmas CD on! Besides, I'm much too in love with the fall weather, leaves changing, etc. that we've been enjoying.

I am thankful for YOU!!! And EASTON!! WE just love you guys and don't know what we'd do without you. Nathan really wants to come play at your house, he asks me every day. Thanks so much for coming to his game last night and freezing your butt off with me- you're the BEST!

I was so totally ticked when the first day back from California and my alarm went off and it was Christmas music, I didn't know where I was for a minute and I couldn't understand why I was hearing Christmas music. I hate that! I'm with you, I LOVE Thanksgiving!! You should post Steve's list, remember when you came for Thanksgiving right after you were married and he was grateful that his wife was so HOT? I bet that would still be on the top of his list. We did always have wonderful Thanksgivings and I hope yours is super great this year too!
