Love Love Love

Why didn't anyone tell me that when your kids are sick for a month, that's the easy part? And that the hard part is the 2 weeks following, when your kid turns into a MONSTER because he was cooped up inside for weeks and his routine was thrown out the window? We're talking worst behavior ever here people. Screaming, tantrums, hitting, screaming, mean words, etc etc. There were many nights where he and I both cried ourselves to sleep. It was awful. I was getting to the point where I really was worried that this was it; this was going to be his new "personality" and I had failed as a mom. But then we turned a corner and as always, time was the great healer. It seems as though the freak outs are little moments now instead of entire days. This was the reason behind my brief stint away from my blog...several times I wanted to blog in frustration or complain about my horrible 4 year old and how I just wanted my sweet little boy back. I'm glad I held out because I think he's mostly back...although I still complained a little. Oh well, what can you do? So...making his return as sweetest, cutest boy ever:

He got back in my good graces just in time for valentine's day. This is one holiday that we don't necessarily go all out for, but is one of my favorites and is really fun with kids. We had a great time celebrating how much we love each other.

Heart-shaped french toast. This got me a , "You're the best mom EVER!" It was music to my ears. We also had a fun party with some friends from our ward where the kids exchanged valentines, played games and ate way too much sugar (or apples if you're Easton).

Steve and I also went to a party with some friends from the ward and had a blast! We met some new people, played awesome games, ate YUMMY food, and spent the evening reminiscing about how we met and how we fell in love. The boys were supposed to write poems for their wives. I gave Steve a hard time for days, thinking for sure he'd find something online. Poems aren't really his thing. But, he completely proved me wrong, and in front of everyone (which also isn't his thing) he recited the most amazingly awesome poem I had ever heard. He wrote it entirely by himself, and it was about how we got together back in college. It was sweet, funny and I loved it. It is my most favorite valentine's day gift I have EVER received. But this one is a close second. I found this baby on my doorstep this week. They made them for all the nursery kids.
And for some reason I can't get it to rotate, so you'll have to turn your computer. This brings me so much happiness I can't even tell you. Dang I'm lucky.

Our festivities concluded with a candle-lit dinner that Steve so kindly brought home from Mac Shack. I wanted one dinner where everybody likes what we eat and there's no complaining. Plus, no clean up is always a bonus. It was perfect.

We did heart french toast too! I should have taken a picture of it. I'm glad to hear about other mom's going through frustrating periods too because if I look at most blogs it can make me feel like I'm a bad mom. I love reading your blog. I hope you guys plan to stay in Vegas, because seriously in the next couple of years we want to be there.

I'm so glad E is getting back to his cute self, but I am sad that you won't be sending him to Idaho now! Tell my little Troadon (spelled that wrong) Best Friend Forever hi for me!

Happy Love Day to you! I want to hear this poem. Be careful not to accidentally throw it away like I did with Brian's song he sang when he proposed.

I love these pictures. Seriously, i love your kids. I am glad Easton is back to being sweet and that you are back to posting about it all.

Sounds like you guys had some fun Valentine's Day parties. I have two questions- where did you take that picture of the kids kissing, and how did you get Easton and Carly to kiss?? I LOVE IT!! Reminds me of a picture my mom has of me and my little brother kissing when I was probably about 4 and he was about 2. She always reminded me that I loved my brother at one time, when we were fighting like mad all the time.
I'm glad E is getting better and back to his old, sweet self. I can't believe Steve wrote you a poem. Sounds like good ol' thoughtful Steve! And the picture of Carly is awesome- love her big cheesy smile!!

The mac shak? That sounds funny, I've never heard of it. It's probly good you stayed away from the computer because I'm realizing I blog and in my head I sound like I'm just casually exaggerating and stating facts, and then everyone responds as if I've been crying all day. Your kids are so stinkin' cute! I REALLY want to hear Steve's poem and I loved that pic of Carly- so cute! Sounds like a really fun night! I'm glad the tantrums have subsided. Scarlet's been a bit of a pain on and off the last few weeks and I think it will never end and then it does. Miss you!!!

Love Carly's valentine's gift. She is so cute, her smile is contagious! Glad Easton made a turn around with his behavior. Believe me, you are a good mom, despite how your children may act. They have there free agency to misbehave, darn it!

Love the picture of Carly and Easton kissing. Two adorable children.

Aww! What a sweet Valentines--a poem from the hubby and in front of everyone. That is love. I seriously wish I had thought of that. What a fantastic party!

Glad to hear E is on the mend. I have those phases where you look at your child and think, I know I love you, but I have forgotten when I liked you. And then it turns out to be a phase.

I'm so sad about the sick kids. It is just that time of year I guess. Christmas is over, the weather is still cold, and it's time for everyone to get sick! I'm glad you're all recovered and you had a great holiday! I love Valentine's Day too!

Well, the tears are flowing! I think I needed a good cry any way.
Now my eyes are going to be all red for yoga. I love Valentines Day so much, loved it when we used to do secret pals and I love that you can show all the love you want to people and it isn't as commercialized as Christmas and doesn't have to be expensive.

I love the pictures of the kids, where is that wall? So cute! You better get something to keep all those little momentos in because there are going to be a lot. That frame and picture of Carly just melt my heart.

That stinker, Easty Boy. I can't believe he was so naughty and sure glad he turned the corner.

So glad you had a great day and that your Valentine took such good care of you. You deserve it and he is awesome.

I'm singing the Beatles song. Was that the idea? :)

You've had a rough start to the year, girl! Glad everyone's pulling out of it. Gotta love those nasty phases kids throw at you. Such cute pics of such cute kids. Keep em coming.

I'm totally doing heart french toast next year.

Oh my goodness Em! This is happening to my RIGHT NOW! The last two days have been TERRIBEL. I have NEVER seen McCoy so defiant and stubborn. And then I remembered this post and had to come back and read it again. It makes me feel better to know that my sweet boy won't be like this forever. WOW!
