Love These Games!

I mentioned in my last post that I have been playing volleyball and basketball once a week. It is my favorite part of the week for sure. A group of us entered a city volleyball league together at the last minute. I love it because it's good, competitive, volleyball...plus it is so fun to just be playing...even though we have lost every single game. Volleyball was the sport I ditched earliest in high school, after my sophomore year, because I didn't want to play 3 sports anymore and it was my least favorite. What was I thinking?!! I LOVE volleyball now and want to play any chance I get.

B-ball is on the same night and I learned about it through Shannon. I put off going for so long because it was during Lost and I didn't have DVR. Now I have no more excuses so I go most week and get my butt kicked every time by people who are way better and in excellent shape (like they can run down the court twice in a row without even stopping to catch their breath!!!). But it's just so fun to get some exercise and do something that I loved more than anything my entire life growing up.

I'm the one in the middle who looks a little stoned. I can't remember if this is Soph or Jr year, but at this point I had kind of checked out of basketball too. I didn't love the politics that go along with high school sports. I think that's why I love the pick-up that I'm able to play now. It's just so FUN...the way it should be.

Sports are so much fun and I am glad that you are getting into it again. Good for you. Before long you will be in awesome shape!

I looked at your picture before I read the post and I thought, those outfits look a lot like high school outfits. Then I read it and saw that was a high school picture. You look exactly the same! I love it.

And to make you feel better, I doubt I'd be able to run half the length of a church gym without having to stop for breathers. I'm pathetically out of shape. Just ask any of my in-laws.

Go Millers! And go you. I think it would be so fun to play basketball with some girls our age. Or should I say women our age. Are we women? Eeek!

I'm glad you have such a positive attitude about LOSING every single game. This made me think about high school and how obsessed I was with sports. If you saw a picture of me in a basketball uniform, it would probably look like I wanted to KILL someone. that's the intensity I had. Kind of how I feel in volleyball right now.

Being that you have this connection to Eugene. You are allowed to look a little stoned!☺

Sounds like soooooo much fun. I wish I had the schedule to do more exercises. EXCUSES, yeah I know.

I'm not sure that your shape is out of control. I think that you have a lovely figure. I've never looked like that. But you know how "fit" you are. Keep it up.

It should be about fun (and a little winning)! Have a great time, but don't forget to blog. I miss reading new blogs, since your SIL have forgotten how to do it.

Love ya

Yay SHS!! It seems like SO long ago that we were in high school - especially when Mia Maids/Teachers in our ward were born the year we were in 5th grade!!
Anyway... it sounds like you are having fun with both sports. I would love to play in some sort of semi-competive volleyball league - it's definitely one of my favorite 'ball' sports. Glad you are having so much fun with it!

I totally admire people like you who can find forms of physical activity fun! I think Vball is fun too, but only by myself. I'm so bad at it that even if I'm having fun, no one else is. You go girl!

We are going to win tonight!!! Hope I don't jinx us. And so glad you play basketball with me too - I need more crazy sports friends :) Too bad I don't like softball, we would have three sports. Soccer?

I'm so glad you are enjoying your sports again! It was so much fun for us to watch you at the time of that photo, those were the days.

Oh, those were the days. I cannot believe you have that pic. It has to be junior year. I wish I could get on a city league bball team. Most of the girls that play played college bball and I don't think I would be very well prepared for that. I love hearing women playing sports when they get out of college and become moms and wives. I am a PE teacher so, I get tons of sport like games with my students.

I agree, you look the same. Sometimes I wish I was somewhat coordinated so I could play.

that was the day Sheldon TRASHED you guys!!!! No wonder you look stoned, YOU GOT WORKED!

Just joking! I totally hated the politics. Man, they ruin all the fun for kids that age. But glad you've found a group/league that's super fun and a good workout. I missed b-ball and v-ball this year because of my growing belly.....maybe next year!

i couldn't agree more!the politics with high school sports is ridiculous and i think i could have gone pretty far in vball if not for that crap. that is my fav sport as well and so much more fun to play competively but for fun. glad you can do that for yourself. hope you guys are doing great!

Oh totally love playing city volleyball! I'm the worst one on my team and so far we've lost all our games too! (I hope it's not because of me).

Volleyball is awesome and I love playing with you especially when we are next to each other and forget to switch the setter spot in the middle of a rally. And then we both realize and scream, "SWITCH, SWITCH, SWITCH!" Also, you were totally hot in high school. That picture makes me pretty pumped for my yearbook party.

Wow, I haven't looked on anyone's blog in forever except my family's. Sports, that's the last thing I'd ever want to do. So funny. I'm glad you're doing it though. What a healthy thing to do! I'm glad you're loving it. I can't believe you do 2 in one night! I can't believe Easton is 2!!!!! How did THAT happen!!!!! I can't believe you have a 2 YEAR OLD!!! WOW!!! Glad you had such a good summer, that's awesome.

Fun pic from back in the day! But I have to say the same thing as Lizzy. You haven't aged a bit. I'm totally jealous of your athleticism.

Of course you look stoned. You grew up in Eugene.

I just speak out of jealousy.

Volleyball!! I am so jealous, definitely my favorite sport. I love the b-ball pic from highschool. You have to love the drama of high school sports:)
I recently joined our RS b-ball team and we play in a half gym, I am so out of shape that I asked for a sub after 5 min. Pretty pathetic!!

Emily is an AWESOME basketball player. I know first hand, we went to basketball camps and our high schools played each other a few times and the girls got skillz. Just so you know.

I've gotten a a few people together here in my new hood to play once a week and its way fun. I haven't played much at all since high school so it's fun to be playing on a regular basis again. Joining a league is a good idea, I think I'll have to try to talk the girls into that!
