A few years ago, my cousin lost her battle with cancer. Last year, my good friend Amy was diagnosed with cancer, went through chemo, and after a long, hard year of being weak and sick is on her way to being healthy. These are a couple of the stories that affected me, but I remember feeling very helpless and like there was nothing I could do besides pray for them. I'll be thinking of them as I run (/walk), as well as for Greg.
I know that me trying to run 3.2 miles isn't going to make Greg's cancer go away, and it won't make the treatments any easier...but hopefully that with all of us together, and the support we have gotten already from hundreds of people, we will be able to give he and his family some help and encouragement while they go through this difficult time.
If anyone in the area is interested in participating, here is the website with all of the information. There are several different races for different levels, and fun stuff for kids too (100 yard dash!). If you don't live in the area but wish to help, there is a place for donations on the same website.
I'm so grateful for the girls who set this up, and for the opportunity I have to be a part of it.

Thanks Emily, Love you.
Seriously one of my worst fears as a parent. It would be so hard to see your child suffer like that. Hope the run goes great!
You are awesome and I totally want to come and stroll and see if Emery will do the 100 yard dash. Thanks for the info!
Oh Gol, I'm crying again. This is so sweet. I wish so bad that I was going to be there that weekend! Because I would be so in! You are going to do great and you will feel awesome at the end for lots of reasons. We'll be praying for that sweet little guy :)
How many times have I thought to myself, I should do something? A million! I am proud of you for "getting of your duff" and getting involoved especially knowing how you HATE to run. I'll be thinking of you and hope it all goes well.
It was awesome Em! thanks for letting us know about it. Definitely makes you think and feel thankful for healthy little children! My heart goes out to that family and I hope they felt the love on Saturday.
